Strong Foundations

Our story is grounded in a deep belief in the power of education to shape lives.

From our founding to today, we’ve grown with purpose, guided by Jewish tradition, committed to academic excellence, and always looking ahead to what is possible.

Our Mission

Rooted in Jewish values, we provide an unparalleled educational experience that inspires innovative thinking, empowers responsible leadership, and honors individuality within a nurturing community.

How It Started

Brawerman Elementary School was founded in 1999 on the Irmas Campus in West Los Angeles, fulfilling the vision of Rabbi Harvey Fields, then Senior Rabbi of Wilshire Boulevard Temple. Rabbi Fields dreamed of a Jewish elementary school that combined the highest academic and ethical standards with a deep sense of purpose, preparing students to lead lives of meaning, leadership, and connection.

A School in Relationship with the Community

Our Mid-Wilshire location places families at the center of Temple life. From cultural arts to community service at the Karsh Center and intergenerational connections at GenSpace, Wilshire Schools East offers opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.

The Story of Wilshire Schools East

A Legacy Brought to Life

Building on the success of the schools on the Irmas Campus, Erika J Glazer ECC and Brawerman East Elementary School opened on the newly renovated Glazer Campus (Mid-Wilshire). Brawerman East opened its doors in 2011 with an inaugural Kindergarten class of 18 students. Nestled within the landmark Wilshire Boulevard Temple building, originally dedicated in 1929, the schools have grown into a vibrant 18-month to Grade 6 school, bringing to life the vision of the founders.

Leadership with Deep Roots

In 2023, Glazer ECC and Brawerman East became Wilshire Schools East, under the leadership of Gillian Feldman, a founding administrator and former Principal at Brawerman East. Wilshire Schools East provides an unparalleled educational experience rooted in Jewish values – inspiring innovative thinking, empowering responsible leadership, and honoring individuality within a nurturing community.

Excellence with Purpose

Blending academic excellence with rich Jewish learning, Wilshire Schools East prepares students to be tomorrow’s leaders and innovators while developing a strong sense of self, purpose, and community. The campus features state-of-the-art classrooms, a rooftop sports complex, an innovation lab, a test kitchen, art and music studios, a Hebrew language center, a science lab, and more, all designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and joyful learning.
