News & Social Canvas

Two young children, a boy and a girl, are playing with colorful building blocks under a large umbrella in an outdoor setting with various potted plants and other objects in the background.

Growing Into Independence

Glazer ECC’s Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten (TK), and Developmental Kindergarten (DK) programs bridge the joyful exploration of preschool with the skills, habits, and confidence children need to thrive in elementary school.

Designed for ages 4–5, these programs honor each child’s unique pace while providing a rich, structured environment for growth.

Preparing for Kindergarten

Academic & Social Readiness

Children at this stage are ready to take on new challenges, both in learning and in relationships. Curriculum introduces early literacy, writing, and math concepts in engaging, hands-on ways, ensuring each child builds a strong foundation for reading, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Equally important is social-emotional readiness: children learn to work in groups, listen and respond to others, manage emotions, and develop resilience.

Building a Love for Learning

Early Literacy & Math Foundations

Through interactive storytelling, phonemic awareness activities, and purposeful writing opportunities, students begin to see themselves as readers and writers. Math skills grow through counting games, pattern recognition, measuring, and real-world problem-solving. These academic experiences are woven into thematic units that connect to science, art, nature, and Jewish traditions, keeping learning meaningful and exciting.

Pre-K Highlights

  • Low student-to-teacher ratios for individualized attention
  • Integrated Jewish values and traditions in daily learning
  • Hands-on projects that spark creativity and curiosity
  • Enrichment in music, art, STEM, cooking, and physical education
  • Guidance for families throughout the kindergarten placement process

Confidence & Collaboration

As children prepare for the next step, they take on more responsibility for their own learning and daily routines. They collaborate on group projects, practice leadership skills, and learn to navigate challenges with empathy and perseverance. Outdoor play, creative arts, and enrichment classes, such as music, cooking, STEM, and sports, help round out their development.

The Transition to Elementary

Because our TK and DK programs are part of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple Schools system, we partner closely with families to ensure a smooth, confident transition to kindergarten. Teachers provide detailed progress updates, and parents are supported with guidance on readiness skills and next steps. Students benefit from our close connection to Brawerman East Elementary School, including opportunities to meet teachers, participate in buddy programs, and become familiar with the campus.
