Where Creativity Shines

The arts are integral to how students learn, grow, and express themselves.

From their earliest years through Grade 6, students explore visual art, music, and performance in ways that nurture imagination, build confidence, and connect learning across disciplines.

Cultivating Creativity Through the Arts

In weekly visual arts sessions, students explore a wide range of materials and techniques, including painting, sculpture, collage, clay, and digital design. Projects often align with classroom learning, deepening understanding through creative expression.

Art specialists guide students in developing foundational skills while encouraging experimentation and originality. Whether illustrating a folktale, building a model, or exploring Jewish symbolism through color and form, students are invited to take creative risks and tell their own stories.

Music, Movement, and Performance

Music is woven into the rhythm of life at Brawerman East. Our comprehensive music program blends Kodály and Orff-inspired learning with music appreciation, theory, and a rich Jewish music repertoire.

  • Early Years: Students develop musical foundations through singing, body percussion, movement, and Orff instruments like xylophones and glockenspiels.
  • Elementary Years: Students begin reading music, expanding their musical vocabulary, and exploring songs from Jewish, American, and global traditions. They also make connections between music and classroom learning in areas like history, language arts, and Hebrew.
  • Instrumental Study: In Grade 3, students learn ukulele. In Grade 4, students begin violin instruction. In Grade 5, students choose violin or flute, and in Grade 6, students choose violin, flute, or clarinet, with small-group lessons that support steady growth and skill-building.
  • Performance: Students share their progress in community-wide moments, including the Chanukah concert, the spring concert, and Friday Shabbat services.

A Stage for Every Student

Confidence grows when students have the chance to share their creativity with others. Whether performing in a musical, displaying artwork in the halls, or singing at a school-wide service, our students experience the pride of being seen and heard.

We celebrate the process as much as the product, honoring effort, growth, and originality along the way.
